Before I designed for Closet Factory, I was actually a client! I have been on both sides of the design table and loved everything about it. I have a unique perspective that enables me to help clients transform their ideas and dreams into reality.
I have a degree in Art and Design, and that combination has enabled me to wear many hats. I have designed and created custom greeting cards and invitations, custom painted furniture, and I was commissioned to create artwork for a national dinnerware company, as well as years of interior design experience.
Good design cannot begin without a well thought out plan. I truly enjoy the process of spatial planning, design, implementation, and adding that individual style to each project. It’s going that extra step to create a very custom and special space for each of my clients. I want each client to collaborate with me on their project, because in the end, it is all about them.
I am passionate about creating new innovative spaces for my clients and love to see how it changes the way they live. We are a product of our environment…why not make it functional, affordable, and beautiful!
“Beth designed plans to transform our basement into a place where I can display my military achievements along with a bar area, work space, and laundry space. We are very pleased with the process and the outcome was more than we hoped for.”
– Cal R. from Cleveland
“How do you first approach a space? In other words, what’s the first thing you think about when you first see a client’s closet space/storage problem?”
The first thing I see when I approach a space is how I want it to feel. I believe our spaces need to reflect a calmness in order to create a certain quality of life and transform the way my clients live.
“What is the biggest design obstacle you’ve overcome? i.e. awkwardly angled walls, electrical sockets in bizarre places, big collections in small spaces.”
I don’t think I have encountered a space that has not had an obstacle, whether it’s a slanted ceiling, a radiator we wish was 6” to the right, or an extra deep return wall. I design around all these unforeseen areas and customize it to make the design seamless. The benefit of custom design is that all of these intrusions can be overcome with a bit thought and experience.
“Since collaboration is such an integral part of the design process, how do you like to engage or connect with clients in order to help them realize their vision for a space?”
I always want the client involved in the planning from beginning to end, otherwise it is not a space that reflects who they are. I want to capture their spirit and the essence of the space. I get to know my clients, their interests and passions. After that, the project designs itself.
“How are you inspired by a home’s existing décor? Is there anything specific that you look for during an in-home consultation?”
A client’s existing style plays a huge role in planning a new project. I always want to create a space that feels like their own. I take into account the architectural elements of the home as well as color selections, any personal collections, and even family photos.
“What are some ways a custom designed home office can improve productivity? In other words, how does the right type of home office help people do business?”
Home offices are here to stay! When a client works from home, they require the same function and storage needs required to do their job successfully. But, they also need to marry the aesthetic features of the home. We do that beautifully at Closet factory with the custom details that enhance their working environment.
“What are some modern organizational trends, or what’s a trend you’re looking for?”
The prevalent modern organizational trend is SIMPLICITY – the use of floating shelves and cabinetry with very clean lines. Although, I believe it’s best to incorporate trends in small doses; design should be timeless.
Each of our custom organization systems is completely personalized and begins with a complimentary design appointment.
