It is refreshing to meet new people every day! As a design consultant for Closet Factory, no two spaces are alike. I love helping my clients create personal spaces of their dreams. Whether it is a closet, office, pantry, or garage, I approach my clients’ storage needs with attention to detail always considering the current style and décor in the home. Creating custom storage solutions and designing with so many options available at Closet Factory gives me the freedom to design a space custom made just for you!
“How do you first approach a space? In other words, what’s the first thing you think about when you first see a client’s closet space/storage problem?”
The first thing I consider is my client’s inventory, clothing, shoes, hats for closets or for offices, books computers and tech stuff. Garages too: bikes, bins and other equipment or tools. I measure this inventory and create a space that functions for you.
“What is the biggest design obstacle you’ve overcome? i.e. awkwardly angled walls, electrical sockets in bizarre places, big collections in small spaces.”
There are often obstacles in every space like angled ceilings or a plumbing pipe that sticks halfway out of the wall. Working around these obstructions and concealing them can be a challenge and it’s great when we can get panels notched or angled to fit these spaces.
“Since collaboration is such an integral part of the design process, how do you like to engage or connect with clients in order to help them realize their vision for a space?”
When working with my clients, I always ask, “What is the priority storage need? What clothes or garage inventory can be stored higher or in hard to reach places, and what items do you use on a daily basis?”
“How are you inspired by a home’s existing décor? Is there anything specific that you look for during an in-home consultation?”
Every home has its own feel. Some are modern or traditional, others are a mix of both, aka “transitional.” I ask my clients what they like and don’t like about their current space and design with the information and vision they give me.
“What are some ways a custom designed home office can improve productivity? In other words, how does the right type of home office help people do business?”
A custom home office is beneficial in so many ways! Some people need shelving for books, others have several PCs or media equipment. An office space designed around the type of business YOU do, it feels more personal and creates a feeling of “this is me and I feel great working in this space.”
“What are some modern organizational trends, or what’s a trend you’re looking for?”
I have noticed a trend towards greys and browns with a contrast of white or silver and flat face doors and drawers with modern flat crown and base. High gloss is also becoming more popular.
Each of our custom offices is completely personalized and begins with a complimentary design appointment.
