MY ADVICE:

• Store your flip flops in shoe cubbies. You can get 2-3 pairs in each cubbie for an organized space saver.

• By putting a Lucite divider inside of a large drawer, it helps keep things organized and neat. Socks on one side. Underwear on the other.

• Lucite face trays with velvet liners are a great way to store you jewelry. The black velvet prevents pieces from skipping around, and it’s great for larger pieces that won’t fit into pre-made compartments.

MY FAQ’s:

 “How do you first approach a space? In other words, what’s the first thing you think about when you first see a client’s closet space/storage problem?”

I ask myself two questions: “How can I help this client get organized and declutter this space?” And, “What is the most important organizational need my client wants to achieve?”

 “What is the biggest design obstacle you’ve overcome? i.e. awkwardly angled walls, electrical sockets in bizarre places, big collections in small spaces.”

The biggest obstacle to overcome is creating a sleek look in a space with different ceiling heights and angled walls. You want to maximize the space without it looking awkward and choppy.

 “Since collaboration is such an integral part of the design process, how do you like to engage or connect with clients in order to help them realize their vision for a space?”

Before designing, I visit the space with the client to see what we are storing and the client’s vision for how they would like their belongings to be stored. We do a rough sketch together, setting the initial mold for the final design.

 “How are you inspired by a home’s existing décor? Is there anything specific that you look for during an in-home consultation?”

When I’m in the client’s home I can get a good sense of their personal style. If the client has Shaker-style drawer faces in the kitchen and bathroom, I will incorporate it into the new project.

 “What are some ways a custom designed home office can improve productivity? In other words, how does the right type of home office help people do business?”

If your home office is organized and all of your electronics and computers are easily accessible in your “work triangle,” you can maximize your productivity.

 “What are some modern organizational trends, or what’s a trend you’re looking for?”

Combining textures and colors to make a room sleek and soothing is a new modern organizational trend I use more and more to achieve a unique look that fits the client’s home.
