I get excited when I can make my clients’ routine activities go more smoothly. Whether it’s getting ready for a hectic day at the office, getting small children out the door for school, dressing for a hot date, or gearing up for a 50 mile bike ride. Nothing better than NOT having to stress about finding the right and left shoe at the same time or knowing exactly where that bike jersey is that you were wanting to wear.
I am a mom, a wife, a sister, an athlete, and a career woman, and I understand the needs of those who wear many hats with a full life. That describes most all of us. I get great pleasure from turning dysfunctional spaces into dressing room masterpieces. I love people and feel I can learn a little from everyone so I really listen to the needs of my clients and create something beautiful, functional within their personal budgetary desires that suits their personality and style.
“We chose Closet Factory for the installation of our master closet this year and it was a great decision! We worked closely with Sydney Cornell and she went out of her way to work within our budget and ensure our closet was installed in the agreed time frame, it looks amazing and is quite functional, one of the best home investments we’ve made to date!“

“How do you first approach a space? In other words, what’s the first thing you think about when you first see a client’s closet space/storage problem?”
I ask the client what their biggest issue with the space is…what do they like and what don’t they like, what is missing? I already have my ideas, but I want to know what they see as the biggest issues, then I can address those first and make suggestions of ways to make it the most functional space possible not leaving anything wasted.
“What is the biggest design obstacle you’ve overcome? i.e. awkwardly angled walls, electrical sockets in bizarre places, big collections in small spaces.”
All of the above have come up at some time or another. The custom space is where we work very well because our panels are all cut to the size that you need, not just standard so if there’s an awkward sized wall we can make it work.
“Since collaboration is such an integral part of the deign process, how do you like to engage or connect with clients in order to help them realize their vision for a space?”
The best way to see inside a person’s head per se is to get them to talk and describe by showing pictures of spaces they love and don’t love and why they love or don’t love them. It narrows down the options so I can get in a ballpark of what they are thinking. Then there is a little trial and error when it’s something very unique, but my creativity is not done until the client is happy with the design. There is nothing more fun than creating a space together and making something functional and beautiful.
“How are you inspired by a home’s existing décor? Is there anything specific that you look for during an in-home consultation?”
I always look at a person’s current space. Color, style, light, and current organization all tell me a lot about what a person might like or dislike, although it is never safe to assume. They may be trying to change looks of the space or the home. I would look around, and ask them what sort of look they want to achieve for their new custom space and if they are trying to keep the same sort of theme the home already has.
“What are some ways a custom designed home office can improve productivity? In other words, how does the right type of home office help people do business?”
Work space is very personal. Some people like to stand and some like to sit. Some need lots of filing space for paper and desk space to spread out their work while others may be solely online and only need a desktop large enough for a computer monitor. It really depends what you do and how you like to work when it comes to making the perfect space so you can be most effective and efficient.
“What are some modern organizational trends, or what’s a trend you’re looking for?”
Sometimes, what is old is new! A variety of jewelry drawers and dividers can help give you a place for everything so that everything can be returned to its place!
